Getting stuck somewhere with a dead phone isn’t quite the modern-day Donner Party—but it’ll still raise your blood pressure a couple points. A Kickstarter campaign from California-design company Lucca Bozzi wants to save you that stress with what it calls the world’s first solar-powered wallet.
The bi-fold wallet gives up to 10 hours battery life through a charging cable you can tuck away (so you don’t look like a total tech geek 24/7). It’s compatible with iOS and Android devices, as well as anything that uses microUSB, such as your Kindle or Fitbit.
The battery recharges using any light source. You don’t have to go outside and do your best plant impersonation if you don’t want to. You can also charge it by hooking it up to a computer—while simultaneously using it to power your phone.Lucca Bozzi argues that devices can do more today and need more charge to stay on, but phone battery advancements haven’t kept pace. Their battery is made out of materials similar to the iPhone, which is about the same size as this wallet.

For men busy blasting their glutes, you don’t have to worry about sitting down and cracking the battery. Lucca Bozzi conducted a “multitude of rigorous weight distribution tests” to “ensure it’s back-pocket safe.”

The wallet also has RFID-lined (Radio Frequency Identification) pockets to protect you from electronic pickpocketing where thieves hack into RFID-enabled credit cards.

Kickstarter pledges for the wallet start at $99, and the estimated delivery is 2017. Need a wallet right now? We have some low-tech (but very stylish) suggestions.
